It’s The Start Of A New Year

Coquitlam River Park
Okay, not really, but evidently I’m not the only one who feels that September feels more like the start of a new year as opposed to January 1st. Both Buzz and Colleen posted about this as well (okay, so Colleen mentioned it briefly, but still…)
Obviously the whole idea stems from the fact that September is when school starts, and it’s a chance to make new resolutions about how you’re going to focus on the coming year, and do the best work that you can, but it also used to be a time of new cars, and the new TV season, which, while less important, was still a regular occurrence when I was a kid.
And the start of the hockey season doesn’t seem like it’s a million years from now anymore.
It’s the season of change, with the run-up to Christmas starting (somewhat) in earnest a little earlier each year.
So, it’s time to make a few resolutions. Public ones. I’m going to increase my blog readership (both traffic wise, and in the number of RSS subscribers), both here and CanuckNation.ca. I’m going to start losing the weight that I should have for a couple of years now. I’m going to improve my PHP, Wordpress and HTML skills. Make myself more marketable.
I think that’ll about do it for now, anyway. I’m sure I’ll think of other things.

Got something to say?
Good on you, Rod.
September is as good a time as any, isn’t it?
Those are A LOT of resolutions for the New Year
Good luck!
I haven’t clicked through to your site in a while, but I gotta say I like the design! Looks nice and clean.
I agree - September does feel like the start of a new year. Good luck with the resolutions. I’d like to somehow increase my blog readership too!
@Raul: It is. But at least one’s going to stick….I hope.
Thanks, Mack. I have a tendency to change the theme fairly frequently, but I think I’ve found one to stick on.
Either that or I need to learn theme design so I can write my own.
Stick to this one and I can help you modify it to your liking so you don’t keep changing it! lol
Heh. I think I’ll be taking you up on that.
@bz: It certainly is. No one ever said that January 1st was a better time than any other.
Thanks very much for your feedback.
i figure that *today* is always the best day to start something. why wait?
@colleen: Even better. I should start subscribing to that theory and see where it leads. Thanks very much for the feedback - it’s appreciated.
